Classic Horror

Why do we love horror stories? Why do we seem to actually enjoy having the wits scared out of us? Some say that the horror tale enables us to temporarily forget our own very real fears and feelings of uncertainty, to put them in a perspective where we can laugh at them, where they pale by comparison to a Frankenstein Monster or Count Dracula.

Horror master Stephen King says that horror " ...deliberately appeals to all that is worst in us. It is morbidity unchained, our most base instincts let free, our nastiest fantasies realized . . . and it keeps them from getting out."

Masters of the horror genre have been creeping us out for centuries and whatever the reason, we still, of our own free will, enter the grim settings and confront the frightful creatures that populate our nightmares.

These classics are some of the best the genre has to offer. Timeless, terrifying... and terrific!
